Leela Manilal is a retired Hindustan Times journalist who lives in New Delhi, India, but visits the U.S. often. Her culinary endeavors are informed by both her Indian heritage and her life adventures traveling the world for work and recreation. During her tenure at the Hindustan Times, Leela covered consumer issues and edited the paper’s youth page. She also served as the Western music critic, and wrote about Western dance.
In addition to her journalism background, Leela has decades of culinary experience preparing feasts for family and friends. She is uniquely skilled at adapting traditional Indian recipes to the equipment and ingredients available to American home cooks. Her technical knowledge, culinary creativity and sheer joy in the kitchen are a source of ongoing inspiration for the Beyond Wonderful team.
