HOW TO
Core, Peel, and Slice Apples

A vegetable peeler or a paring knife? Generations of cooks have debated which is best for peeling apples. The answer: it doesn’t make a bit of difference, as long as your chosen tool is sharp and of good quality.

  1. Remove the stem by inserting a sharp paring knife or peeler into the center of the apple and cutting around it. Pull out the stem and discard.

2. Remove the skin with an apple peeler or paring knife. Starting at the top, rotate the apple against the blade until you've removed all of the peel.

  3. Cut the apple in half.

  4. Cut the halves into quarters and remove the core and seeds.

  5. Cut the quartered sections into even slices.

6.) Toss the apples with fresh lemon juice to prevent browning.
