There is nothing worse than a gorgeous salad with gritty greens. I wash everything—including the packaged, pre-washed leaves from the produce sections.
1. Place the individual leaves into a large bowl and cover with cool water.
2. Swish the leaves around to remove the surface dirt—then soak them for several minutes.
3. Remove the leaves from the water. If you see a good amount of dirt, toss out the water and repeat the process until there is no visible dirt.

Place the leaves on paper or clean, absorbent towels
5. Cover and pat to remove excess water.
6. Place the leaves in a salad spinner and remove all remaining water.
