The aromatic “secret mixture” of herbs and spices known as Angostura Bitters dates back to the 1800’s. In addition to lending a unique flavor to countless cocktails, Angostura Bitters are fabled to have insect-repellent properties!

Ingredients
Serves 1
1   sugar cube
1–2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 ounces blended whiskey*
2–3 ounces club soda
~   ice cubes
1   maraschino cherry
1   orange slice
*Canadian and Rye whisky works here.  
 
Directions 
 
  1. Chill the glass in the refrigerator, or fill it with ice for several minutes to chill, then discard the ice.
  2. Add the sugar cube, bitters, whiskey, and soda to the glass and stir well.
  3. Add ice cubes and decorate with a maraschino cherry and orange slice.
