Irish Coffee
Hot Drink Recipe

There are dozens of versions Irish coffee, but mine stays true to the original, first popularized in the 1950s at San Francisco’s Buena Vista Cafe. Purists will tell you to use only top-quality whisky, and to sip the beverage through the cream, rather than stirring it up.

Ingredients

~ boiling water
2 ounces Irish whisky
1 sugar cube*
8 ounces hot black coffee
~ whipped cream
  *Substitute 1 teaspoon of superfine sugar if cubes are unavailable.
Directions

1. Warm the glass by pouring boiling water into it. After several minutes, toss the water out.

2. Pour in the Irish whisky, add the sugar cube, and fill the cup with coffee. Mix well.

3. Top with whipped cream.
