The impulse to eat fresh snow is as old as snow itself. Here’s a recipe guaranteed to deeply thrill any child—and plenty of adults, too. Eat this treat the same day you make it or it freezes rock-solid and isn’t as much fun.

Ingredients
Serves 1/2 gallon
1 1/2 cups half-and-half
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups pure, white snow
 
 
Directions 
 

1. Combine the half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla together is a spacious mixing bowl.

2. Add the snow and mix by hand or with a mixer until all ice clumps are smooth.

3. Pour into a container and freeze until set.


 

Preparation time: Ten minutes plus setting time.
