Coleslaw

Classic coleslaw is a picnic staple, and with good reason. Nothing compares to its tangy crunch–especially alongside great burgers or ribs. Summertime on a plate!

Ingredients

1 medium head cabbage, shredded
2 medium carrots, grated
1/2 medium onion, minced
1 cup best-quality mayonnaise
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

 

Directions

 

  1. Combine the cabbage, carrots and onion in a spacious bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper.
  3. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and mix well.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 6 to 8 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to develop.
  5. Remove from the refrigerator and adjust the seasonings before serving.
Preparation Time: 
Under 15 minutes plus 6 to8 hours downtime.
