Zest Citrus

Sensuously fragrant and brilliantly colored, the oil rich outer skins of lemons, limes, and oranges add great flavor to all your recipes. Zest citrus with a micro planer, zester, sharp knife, or vegetable peeler

     
 

1. Microplaner: Hold the microplaner at an angle and place the fruit on top. Rotating the citrus as you work, move the fruit up and down the microplaner being careful to remove the colored skin only—No points given for bits of your finger. Do not grate the bitter white pith.

 
       
 

2. Zester: Julienne the outer skin of the fruit in tiny strips with the zester. Grip the fruit one hand and pull the zester over it being careful not to remove any of the bitter white pith.

 
       
 

3. Knife:Using a sharp knife, hold the fruit in one hand and use the other to slice very thing strips of the colored outer skin. Remove any bitter, white pith from your strips.

 

 
       
  4. Peeler: Grip the fruit in one hand and use the other to peel its thin outer skin. Remove any of the bitter white pith from your strips.
