These sweet-spicy pecans are flavorful enough for great solo snacking, but subtle enough to blend well with other ingredients in salads or stir-fries.
1 | egg white, lightly beaten | |
2 | tablespoons | butter, melted |
2 | tablespoons | sugar |
3/4 | teaspoon | cayenne pepper |
1/2 | teaspoon | salt |
1/4 | teaspoon | freshly ground pepper |
3 | cups | pecan halves |
Pre-heat oven to 300°
1. Beat the egg white until frothy in a medium mixing bowl.
2. Add the butter, sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the egg whites and mix well.
3.Add the pecans to the mixture and toss lightly until the nuts are evenly coated.
4.Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon non-stick baking mat. Spread the nuts evenly on the baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes, stirring once to flip the nuts over after ten minutes, and monitoring closely to prevent over baking.
5. Immediately transfer the finished nuts to a large plate. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Preparation time: 28 minutes.
