Hot Rum Drink Recipe

History tells us that “grog”—a mixture of rum and water—was introduced in the 1700’s by a sea captain hoping to curb his crew’s habit of guzzling rum straight up. Sugar and lemon were added to make the diluted mixture more appealing.

Ingredients

2 ounces dark rum
2 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups boiling water
Directions

1. Pour the dark rum, sugar, and lemon juice in a heat-resistant mug.

2. Add the boiling water, stir, and serve.
