
When it comes to satisfying a sweet tooth, there’s nothing quite like a fine fluffy forkful of 7-minute frosting. And the process of whipping ordinary egg whites into gleaming, airy peaks can only be described as fun!



1 1/2 | cups sugar | |
1/4 | teaspoon | cream of tartar |
1/8 | teaspoon | salt |
1/3 | cup | water |
2 | egg whites | |
1 1/2 | teasponns | vanilla |
- Place sugar, cream of tartar, salt, water and egg whites in a small metal bowl or the top of a double boiler.
- Beat with a handheld electric mixer for 1 minute.
- Place the pan or bowl over simmering water, being sure that the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl.
- Beat constantly on high speed with an electric mixer for 7 minutes, until light and fluffy.
- Remove from heat and beat in the vanilla. Continue beating for a few minutes longer until frosting is cool. Frost cake.
