Chocolate Frosting

This traditional sheet cake frosting is everything you’d expect: rich, fudgy and almost achingly sweet. Chopped nuts add crunch and character—irresistible!

1/2 cup butter, room temperature
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the cocoa and milk and bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from the heat and add the powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts.  Keep warm until ready to use.
