Preheat the oven to 350-degrees
Grease and flour a 9″x4″x 2 3/4″ baking pan, or coat with non-stick spray.1. Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and currants in a spacious bowl.2. Whisk together the egg and buttermilk in a separate bowl.3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix gently only until combined. Do not overmix.
4. Spread the batter in the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for about one hour, until the top of the loaf is firm.
5. Cool before slicing.
