This is one of those classic treats that you loved as a child and still crave as an adult. The original recipe came from a can of Eagle Brand milk, and really, Eagle’s formula needs no improvement unless you want to be totally decadent and add extra chocolate, coconut, and toast the nuts.
4 | cups | graham crackers crumbs |
3/4 | cup | butter, melted |
2 | 14-ounce cans | sweetened condensed milk |
4+ | cups | semi-sweet chocolate chips |
3+ | cups | sweetened, shredded coconut |
2+ | cups | chopped pecans, toasted |
Preheat oven to 325 °
16 ½ x 12-inch baking sheet
1. Combine the crumbs and butter in a spacious mixing bowl and mix well.
2. Pour the crumb mixture on the baking sheet, distribute evenly, and press into place. Refer to How To Make a Crumb Crust for detailed instructions.
3. Spread the condensed milk evenly over the crumb crust.
4. Scatter the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
5. Sprinkle the coconut over the chocolate chips.
6. Finish by sprinkling with the chopped nuts.
7. Place in the oven and bake until pale golden brown—approximately 25–30 minutes.
8. Remove from the oven and cool.
9. Use a sharp knife to cut the Magic Bars into 2-inch squares. Store in an airtight container.
