Despite the fancy French name, this apple tart is extremely simple to make. Assemble it in a few minutes, pop it in the oven and it’s ready to serve by the time you’ve finished dinner!

3–4 | tablespoons | butter |
4–5 | medium | golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and halved |
3 | tablespoons | good-quality caramel sauce |
1 | store-bought | frozen flaky pie crust, thawed* |
*You can substitute you favorite homemade flaky pie crust recipe. |
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt the butter in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet set over medium heat. Add the apples and coat with the butter.
- Sauté the apples until soften but still firm—about 15 minutes.
- Spoon the caramel sauce into the center of a 10-inch pie dish and spread it to lightly cover the bottom of the dish.
- Arrange the apples rounded side down. Cut any extra apples and place them in open areas.
- Cover the apples with the pie crust and gently fold the edges under the apples.
- Place in the oven and bake until the crust is golden and flaky—approximately 35 minutes.
- Immediately unmold the tart by inverting it onto a serving platter. Do not allow it to cool in the pan, or it will stick. Serve warm.
