Ingredients
Serves 1 9-inch pie
3–4 tablespoons butter
4–5 medium golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and halved
3 tablespoons good-quality caramel sauce
1 store-bought frozen flaky pie crust, thawed*

*You can substitute you favorite homemade flaky pie crust recipe.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  1. Melt the butter in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet set over medium heat. Add the apples and coat with the butter.

  2. Sauté the apples until soften but still firm—about 15 minutes.

  3. Spoon the caramel sauce into the center of a 10-inch pie dish and spread it to lightly cover the bottom of the dish.

  4. Arrange the apples rounded side down. Cut any extra apples and place them in open areas.

  5. Cover the apples with the pie crust and gently fold the edges under the apples.

  6. Place in the oven and bake until the crust is golden and flaky—approximately 35 minutes.

  7. Immediately unmold the tart by inverting it onto a serving platter. Do not allow it to cool in the pan, or it will stick. Serve warm.

Preparation time: approximately 25 minutes; baking 35 minutes.
